FAQ: Getting Started
Where does the Water Ionizer hook up?
A1: At any sink
in the house or at work. It comes with a diverter that is easily installed on any standard sink faucet.
Could we install it?
A2: Yes, most customers install the units quite easily. The basic counter
top installation includes removing the aerator ring and screen from the standard kitchen spout and installing the diverter
valve . A length of tubing is supplied which you cut to size and lead from the valve to the unit inlet and another from the
unit to the sink for the acid drain. Plug it into the power source, flush out the charcoal dust and it is ready to go.
Is it noisy?
A3: As soon as you turn on the water pressure you will hear a series of about 10-13 beeps which is a warning of
the cleaning cycle with acid water coming out of the top spout. It will then switch to ion mode and the only sound you hear
is the water running into the container. The unit is virtually silent.
What if the acidic water flow is greater than the alkaline?
A4: The flow rate should be about 40% acid water and 60% alkaline,
not more acid flow. On a new unit that is an indication that the white tubes are installed in the reverse order. On an older,
used unit that would mean a build-up of minerals internally and require cleaning.
How often do I need to clean the ionizer and how long should I run the
cleaning process?
A5: The unit performs an automatic
cleaning cycle each time the water pressure is turned on. It takes about 13 seconds and beeps during that time. In most locations
additional cleaning will not be needed. If there are a lot of minerals in your source water you may need to press the clean
button and run it for an additional 2 minutes every 2 or 3 days.
What size and type of container would you recommend?
A6: Using a good sealed plastic container is fine
if it is designed for water and a size so that a 3 day supply can be provided. We always recommend to have fresh water daily
and so it is best for your friends to purchase their own unit.
Where should I send the warranty card?
A7: Enclosed in the unit is a post card sized warranty
card complete with the correct mailing address. Please complete the purchase information and send it to us. In the
owners manual you will find another warranty form that you keep for your personal records.
Does it really matter how the tubes are connected to the unit?
Won't the water still flow through?
A8:
Some times people will connect the tubes to the wrong elbow at the bottom of the unit and this reverses the flow of the water
and here are some symptoms that could be evident.
1) The power may not come on to the unit with regular water pressure
& flow. It may come on with high water pressure and flow rate.
2) There may be a taste of chlorine because the control
valves are not sending all the water through the filter.
3) The ionization will not be happening and if it does the pH
ranges may be reversed of what is normal. You could have acid water coming out of the top tube.
4) The flow ratio will
not be correct. There will likely be more acid water flow than alkaline.
Placing the tubes onto the correct elbow fittings will solve these problems.
Can the unit be installed under the sink, with a drinking spigot
on the sink top near an existing faucet? Or will it only work through an existing faucet?
A9: Both of the Regency ( Elite & X ) units
are designed as counter top units and work best that way. Reasons for this are that during the automatic cleaning cycle
acidic water comes out of the top spout , water pressure turns the power on to the unit so you need an on/off control valve
and lastly , all of the water must freely drain out of the unit after each use.
The newer Regency X unit has the option
of being connected directly to the cold water line instead of the faucet spout.
Does the unit produce water on demand or is there a holding tank inside
the unit?
A10: Yes
it is a flow through unit, at a general flow rate of 1/2 gal to 3/4 gal per minute. There is no holding tank in the unit as
you would find on an RO or distiller system.
How should I start drinking it?
A11: Start out by using the lowest power setting and only drinking
1-3 glasses per day. If the water agrees with you, increase the amount you drink and the level of ionization intensity after
three days. The stronger, the better, but take your time in building up to the higher levels. The antioxidant is most powerful
on the high levels. You will of course experience more energy at the higher levels. The fresher the ionised Water is, the
stronger the properties of the Alkaline / Acid water are. If you start at the high setting the resulting detoxification can
be strong and unmistakable.
Does Ionized Water have any negative effects?
A12: Absolutely none, as long as it is used properly as described
above.
How does Ionized Alkaline Water affect athletes?
A13: In an very positive manner, as you might expect. Due to increased
oxygen levels there may be increased stamina, endurance. Refer to the article about Exercise and Acid.
